The Korean giants have become major players in the smartphone industry over the last few years. Their previous devices, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, really took the world by surprise. Everybody wanted to have one of these devices. There was talk everywhere surrounding Samsung — in some blogs, the S7 Edge was ranked the Best Phone of 2016 and this was really good press for the company.
Samsung has to keep their consumers happy. Talk on Samsung S8’s release date is continuing to float around. Sources say the unveiling will be in April 2017. Tech watchers are really excited, and everyone is wondering what new thing is Samsung introducing and what changes are they making.
Some recently leaked documents place the finger scanner at the back of the device close to the camera lenses, 3 mm headphone port, bottom firing speaker girl just as in the S7. There are two phone S8 and S8+ which is larger.
You have to understand that none of these features have been confirmed but some are increasingly legitimate.
Both phones will feature a dual-curved super AMOLED display with a tighter curve. Looks like the edge screen is being dropped. Both phones are to have a 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory and microSD support. They will also have iris scanners, support for wireless charging and an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.
The rumor is that the S8 will be fitted with a Snapdragon 835 processor and Android 7.1 Nougat straight from the box. The phone might also be fitted with the new hybrid slot supporting both microSD expansion and UFS memory cards by Samsung. There’s also word that there will be 2 versions of the S8 one with 64GB and a second one with 128GB internal memory, both having 4GB of RAM.
The wireless fast charging will be more efficient because of the expected three-coil wireless charger. The phone’s battery capacity is still debatable but some sources are agreeing on 3250mAh for S8 and 3750mAh for S8+ so it’s safe to say 3000mAh and above. These will be non-removable batteries.
There’s also report on wireless in-ear headphones for both phones. That would be great I’m personally looking forward to those.
At first, we thought Samsung was going to maintain the 5.2″ size, but reports show that the S8 will be 5.8” and 6.2” for the S8+ for the flat part of the screen. The devices are to be fully rectangle and rounded edges. There have been claims stating that Samsung is using RGB pixel array other than the speculated Diamond pentile pattern, this would increase the pixel density significantly and benefit VR fans.
As for the camera, some are saying double 16Mp back and 8Mp front for the S8 while others say 12Mp double back and 8Mp front. phase detection autofocus, OIS, LED flash and f/1.7, dual video call, Auto HDR for the front camera.
The S8 is reportedly priced at around $800 to $860 and the S8+ $900 to $961.
