Promoting your products is a crucial aspect in acquiring potential customers. Your items need to to be seen! While advertising can be rather expensive, it doesn’t always have to be. Below are a few sites where you can promote your products for free! Did I mention it is FREE!?
Pinterest is by far my favorite site for promoting products because it seems to draw in the largest audience. The site also allows you to post other relevant items on boards. You can post items from your business to your personal Pinterest account or you can create an account specifically for your business. I recommend doing both. Creating a business account is a great way to attract followers that might turn into customers.
If you decide to create a business account, you should make sure that you pin products other than just your own. While your own products might be interesting, your followers will unfollow you in a hurry if you constantly pin hundreds of your products. Instead, try pinning a mix of your own products along with other relevant items. For example, if you happen to sell spices, it might be beneficial to post some recipes that use your spices. Of course, you wouldn’t want to post spices from other companies because you would be posting a competing product.
Wanelo is another favorite site of mine! Wanelo is similar to Pinterest, but Wanelo only allows you to post products for sale. This has both advantages and disadvantages. The major advantage is that generally, people using Wanelo are looking specifically to buy something and that something might just be an item that you are selling. The disadvantage is that it’s harder to post other relevant content using Wanelo. What I’ve found works best is posting mostly my own items, but being sure to not post too many items at the same time. Depending on what you sell, you can make themed boards. For example, if you sell something that can be used at a country themed wedding, you could do a board focusing on items that can be used at a country wedding.
Weheartit is a great site for gaining exposure, however, you are limited on the number of items that you post each day. Weheartit also doesn’t generate quite as much traffic as Pinterest or Wanelo, but it’s still worth a try if you’re looking to promote your products. Sometimes the site will not allow you to post certain items, however most of the time, you’re free to post whatever you want. If Weheartit doesn’t allow you to post a link, be wary of using the upload button because although an image of your item will appear, it will not link back to your site.
